The Deal On Fabric.Tagged in: Untagged
I've just about stopped jittering enough to be able to type this review. FABRIC. London's superclub of superclubs. I realised just how super by the length of the queue outside on the night ( advance tickets next time lads, i promise..) , then the queue inside to pay, then the queue for the cloakroom...etc... Well, i didn't have time for the cloakroom as the GASLAMPKILLER had already started spinning and it was time to be there. The maze of stairways, doors and bodies that FABRIC is, totally got the better of me here. I ended up on the balcony of room one, looking down at the mass of people bumping to the sick sh#t the GLK was blaring ! Okay, down another flight of stairs...and straight up the front . I think i got the last little patch of room for one person to stand at . NICE.

ONE MORE TUNE !!!!!!Tagged in: Untagged
Yeah Ive been playing Panama every Friday nite now for a good while now and i must say its certainly going from strength to strength. Only two weeks ago we seen the best crowd ever to grace us with their good up for it vibe, the feel good factor certainly kept myself and Dj Scotty reeling in the atmosphere it really was a sight I must say. Myself and Scotty got went three for three at one stage but as the nite rolled on it was one for one and it went down a storm ! Come the end of the nite and with the dance floor heaving I pushed out the last track(the Bucket Heads the Bomb)it turned the crowed on its head and it felt great. Other tracks on the nite Lustrial Every time. Robin S Mobin Masters remix,David Guetta Just a little more love, Hott 22 Something Real. And many more. And to our absolute delight when we finally finished the crowd screamed ONE MORE TUNE !!!! ONE MORE TUNE !!!!

View from The Bridge - Deepak Sharma and Simon PattersonTagged in: Untagged
I'm so torn!! I've always considered myself primarily a trance fan - primarily. But lately I've been really getting into minimal techno. However if anyone was to take me back to my trance roots - it was Mr. Simon Patterson! But lets start with Friday night. I'm always surprised and delighted by how much great, free music there is in this city. Of course some of the bigger music venues still demand high ticket prices but you can on occasion find the hidden gem with no or very little cover and no outrageous drinks prices. A delight! Bar 13 and Hidden Recordings party is one of those gems. I'd been to Bar 13 before for drinks and a screen play reading but not for a dance party. I had seen Deepak open for Paco Osuna a few weeks ago and was really impressed (interview coming soon on this site). So this is his monthly label party (Hidden Recordings). Only a $5 cover and as it was his birthday, I got a slice of delicious carrot cake! Giovanni opened, followed by Pablo Bolivar - whom I really liked. Deepak came on around 2.30am and kicked it up a notch with some great minimal sounds. But as I had been out since 10.30pm, I was sort of beat by 3.30. I would've liked had he come on a bit earlier but all good. I hope to make this a regular monthly meet up for my group. He had a bit of competition that night as Deadmau5 was playing Webster Hall (varied reviews from my friends on that one - some said terrific, another just okay).

View from the Bridge, Pearce, van Doorn and BurridgeTagged in: Untagged
Well last weekend I went to see Alex Pearce and Victor Dinaire at LOVE. Well I'm already a fan of Alex from when I saw him play at Webster Hall earlier in the year. And this time he didn't disappoint. His energy behind the decks is amazing. He opened for Victor but in my opinion he should've been the closing act - just in terms of the energy and keeping the crowd going. Really nice set. I also found a new clubbing buddy - an Irish girl named Ann Marie who it turns out is as big a fan as I am. So very happy about that. Welcome onboard AM! Last Friday I went to see Sander van Doorn at Pacha. This was a MADE event - private promoter so tix were on average $25 and $40 at the door. I really like Sander but for some reason and it could've been eating too late - I just wasn't feeling it. I won't blame him though cos I thought his set was really good and I really like "Close my Eyes" but my energy was not there. I hung out til 3.30am and then bailed. Saturday night I went to Lee Burridge at Rebel. I have heard of Lee for a while but wasn't really familiar with his music. However, I was in a play and the actor in the play with me was Lee's former roommate! Small world. Lee was amazing. I guess tech/house/electro house is howI would describe his style. But he played an awesome set. Tunes I'd never come across before as well as some really cool remixes. I also got to meet Lee and a wee hang out behind the decks. Lee is old school, spinning vinyl and CDs all at once- really pretty cool to see him at work and still managed to have a connvo with me and be nice as well- always a plus! Hope he comes back soon. |
